There is a saying: Everything that is not done is for the best, even if we think that it is not so.

Today’s tale confirms this idea.

An African king had a close friend with whom he grew up. This friend, looking at any situation that ever occurred in his life, whether positive or negative, had a habit of saying, “That’s good!”

Once the king was on a hunt. A friend used to prepare and load guns for the king. Apparently he had done something wrong while preparing one of the guns. When the king took a gun from his friend and shot him, his thumb was torn off. Examining the situation, the friend said, as usual, “That’s good!” To this the king replied: No, it is not good! — and ordered to send his friend to prison.

About a year passed, the king was hunting in an area in which he could, in his opinion, be completely safe. But the cannibals captured him and brought him to their village with the rest. They tied his hands, stretched a pile of wood, set up a pole and tied the king to the pole. When they got closer to start the fire, they noticed that the king was missing a thumb on his hand. Because of their superstitions, they never ate someone who had a defect in the body. After untying the king, they let him go.

When he returned home, he remembered the incident when he lost his finger and felt remorse for his treatment of his friend. He immediately went to the prison to talk to him.

You were right, he said, it was a good thing I was left without a finger.
And he told everything that had just happened to him.

• I am very sorry that I put you in prison, it was bad on my part.

No, said his friend, that’s good!

• What are you saying? Is it good that I put my friend in jail for a whole year?
• If I wasn’t in prison, I would be there with you and they would eat me then.

Everything in the world is relative and often people cannot predict ALL the possible consequences of their actions and events. But personally, I look optimistically at everything that happens around me and believe that everything that happens to me is for the best – it’s good !!!

And only time puts EVERYONE in their place!
