The goals of the project were discussed last week.

Today I propose to talk about the interested parties of the project. That is, about the environment of the project, which can most influence the progress of the project, both positively and negatively.

interested parties of the project Well, since this influence on the Project and its goals, it must be managed !!!

So let’s talk about what actions the project manager and his team MUST perform.

And yes, a simple but working algorithm:

1) It is necessary to identify interested parties, i.e. with the answer: “Who from the near/far environment of the project is interested in the implementation of the project?”.

2) Determine the level of influence of the identified parties on the project. That is, answer the question: “Can interested parties influence the course of project implementation and to what extent?”

3) Determine the degree of interest in the project/project result. That is, answer the question: “What are the goals/interest of the interested person in the project? »

4) Make a 2/2 matrix along the Vertical, which will be a matrix of interested parties, the power of power/influence on the project. and horizontally there will be interest in the project.

Next, we place all the identified parties from the four quadrants.

The key quadrant is those stakeholders who have more power and more interest in the project. This category of stakeholders requires active management.

5) We are working out a strategy for working with interested parties for all interested parties, and primarily for the “Active Management” quadrant. That is, we define:

methods of communication;
— format and frequency of information provided;

— what goals will be achieved within the project;

— what goals will not be achieved within the project;

What goals can be achieved within the project;
— How/what actions can we take to ensure stakeholder support/minimize negative impact on the project?

We put all this on the table:

project stakeholders

Now we have a clear understanding. How we can and will manage project stakeholders to most effectively achieve project objectives and minimize project stakeholder risks.

That’s all for now.

You can learn more about working with stakeholders at one of my trainings or by ordering a consultation.

Next time we will talk about the role of the Project Manager and what skills he should have.

Good luck with your projects!
